The name SCOOPS comes from the ice cream store SCOOPS DELIGHT that L. Trena Woodson started in 1994 nestled in West Philadelphia. She noticed people coming into the store during rain storms (who said ice cream is only for hot sunny days?). They'd come in to get out of the rain and bought some delicious Basset's ice cream (a Philly Fav)... so she started stocking umbrellas, you still had to buy ice cream first of course.
One day, someone wanted to order 30 umbrellas with a logo. So, she started getting logos printed on things from umbrellas to t-shirt, to stationary, and a host of other items. Kids these days call that a 'pivot'.
Fun fact: the SCOOPS Logo was made in 1994 using the top-of the line design studio "MS Word", so retro.
